If you’ve lived with chronic sinus or lung issues, you know how much they can wear you down. The pressure, the headaches, the pain, that heavy feeling in your chest - it’s exhausting.
I had a rough time with mould and dust in my late twenties - constant sinuses pain, lung congestion and chronic pharyngitis. What helped most wasn’t anything fancy. It was getting the air clean again and looking after my sinuses every day. These are the few things that made the biggest difference.
1. Sinus Rinse

Think of it like brushing your teeth. It clears out what you’ve breathed in through the day - dust, pollen, mould spores, all of it. It feels odd at first, but you get used to it quickly.
Mix the sachet with warm water, then gently squeeze the bottle so the rinse flows through one nostril and out the other. I do mine in the shower so I don’t splash water everywhere. Once or twice a day is enough, especially if you work around dust or have allergies.
2. Natural Nasal Spray

If you’re dealing with a flare-up, a natural nasal spray with clove and oregano oil can help calm things down. It’s good for short-term use after a rinse - not something for every day, just when you’re fighting off something active.
3. Diffuse Clove Oil

This one changed everything for me. I started diffusing clove oil beside my bed at night, letting the gentle mist move through my sinuses and lungs while I slept. That steady exposure made the biggest difference - it helped clear years of mould and respiratory issues.
Clove oil is naturally antifungal and antibacterial. Add four to five drops to a diffuser that runs for six to eight hours, and keep it going through the night. Just be careful as it’s strong. Don’t spill it on furniture, sinks, or painted surfaces, as it can strip them.
I used to think essential oils were only for scent. Clove taught me they can be genuinely therapeutic when used thoughtfully and with intention.
This post sits alongside the chapter "Clean the Air" in The Rhythm of Health. The book goes deeper into how your environment shapes your breath, your nervous system, and your energy.
