Better sleep starts with what you’re sleeping on.
The fabrics closest to your skin shape how deeply the body can rest. Natural fibres breathe, letting you warm and cool yourself without effort. They don’t trap heat or hold moisture, they just work with you through the night.
Wool Pillows

I’ve tried a lot of pillows over the years, but the ones from Blessed Earth have been the best by far. I use the standard thickness, though I’m keen to try the thicker version next as I’m a side-sleeper. They’re soft yet supportive, mouldable, and they don’t trap heat. I used to wake with a hot head most nights, but not anymore. They’re also naturally resistant to dust and mould.
Wool Mattress Topper

I use the 1500gsm topper and really love it. It’s soft, breathable, and beautifully made. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it since we spend a third of our lives asleep. If you have a foam or synthetic mattress, a wool topper can act as a natural barrier, helping your body breathe and settle more easily instead of fighting against the materials underneath. They’ll even make custom sizes if you need one.
Wool Mattress

After noticing the difference with their wool pillow, I decided to try their 100% wool mattress. I’d grown uncomfortable on our old spring mattress and needed a change. The mattresses from Blessed Earth are pure wool with no springs - a very different feel. It took about a week to adjust, but now we love it and wouldn’t go back. It feels like sleeping on a soft, supportive cloud that lets the body truly rest. I don’t toss and turn anymore. It’s breathable, natural, and free from chemicals or off-gassing. Wool mattresses are naturally firm, so we paired ours with the Blessed Earth 1500gsm wool topper for the right balance of softness and support. It’s definitely an investment, and not something everyone can do, but if you’re ready to upgrade your sleep environment, it’s worth considering.
Bedding

We use 100% cotton sheets, a linen coverlet, and a wool blanket. I like having layers on the bed as it makes it easy to adjust through the night, just throw one off or pull one on. All the layers are natural and breathable, so it stays comfortable year-round. Warm in winter, cool in summer. There are plenty of good options out there now, just check the label and make sure they’re free from synthetics, and if you can, choose organic.
Start Where You Are
You don’t need to change everything at once. Maybe start by swapping your sheets for natural fibres, or try a wool pillow. If you feel reactive to your sleep environment, just begin with the thing that seems to affect you most. Over time, small swaps make a big difference. Natural materials breathe with you.
